MASSTWIN supported the organization of this year's MS Food DAY, organized by the Mass Spectrometry section of the Italian Chemical Society. Anja Mahne Opatić, the ISO-FOOD fellow, received the Best Poster Award among 73 poster presentations, with her contribution "A preliminary traceability model for tomato using analysis of stable isotopes, elemental content and chemical markers".
Masstwin - H2020 Twinning Project
Spreading Excellence and widening participation in support of mass spectrometry and related techniques in health, the environment, and food analysis
The objective of the twinning project is to improve the mass-spectrometry based analytical skills of researchers and to adopt best practices comparable to the world‘s leading laboratories.
This will be achieved through a series of exchange visits between the participating laboratories, exploratory workshops, group trainings and collaborative research in the field of health, food and environmental sciences. The scientific content of the project is complementary to the activities of the ISO-FOOD ERA Chair.
The ERA Chair Iso-Food Summer School addressed the speciation of trace and toxic elements in food by providing participants with an in-depth knowledge of trace element speciation using examples of essential and non-essential elements including Cr, Zn, Ni, Hg and As to teach demonstrate the state-of-the art analytical approaches.
Workshop on "Molecular tools for food traceability, quality and safety" discusses the possiblities for collaboration in food authenticity and traceability, alternative food, food reuse and application of nanotechnologies in food science.
ERA Chair ISO-FOOD invites national stakeholders on September 25-27, 2017, to the summer school on trace element speciation. The working language of the school will be Slovene.
